Our protagonist is an American student who moved to Japan from his home state of Virginia due to his father being appointed commander of the USS Ronald Reagan. After moving from his home, he is introduced to Kenji. MC is not your typical high school otaku nerd. He has a wise-guy attitude, which makes for the best banter among his friends. At this point, we meet Sayori, a sweet, bubbly, and overly cheerful girl and Kenji's childhood friend who just so happens to love eating snacks and has a bottomless pit for a stomach. She invites both Kenji and our protagonist to the literature club to see what it is all about
